Conquering Your Mountain

A big mound of dirt has accumulated in my backyard due to some recent construction work.

The mound reminded me of all the mountains I’ve faced in my life; challenges I had to overcome in order to reach my ultimate goal.

Over the years, I’ve built up my confidence to conquer mountains by following these three simple rules:

  1. Study the Landscape. Given the terrain and height, mountains vary in complexity. Make sure you know what you are getting into before you take the journey.
  2. Bring the Right Equipment. Different mountains require different tools to get to the top. Have you acquired the experience to master the tools or is there more learning you must undergo before you start.
  3. Take your Time. Scaling a mountain is dangerous business. While it might be exhilarating to rush to the top, one wrong step could be costly. A well thought through plan will help you avoid pitfalls.

What mountains will you conquer this week? Make sure to study your landscape, bring the right equipment, and take your time. Before you know it, you’ll be scaling mountains with ease.
