Embracing Change

Change can be scary. And when we allow the fear of the unknown to get the best of us, we end up holding ourselves back from reaching our full potential.

The secret to managing change is understanding you can’t control it, but have the power to choose how you react to it.

What behaviors trigger when you encounter change?

Denial: “If I ignore it, it will go away”. This behavior comes across rude. Don’t shut the door on a potential opportunity without clarity of what the change is, instead seek understanding.

Resistance: “I’m fine with how things are”. This behavior comes across as stubborn. Don’t be closed minded on how this change might benefit you or others, instead make an effort to self reflect on the possibilities.

Acceptance: “Everything happens for a reason”. This behavior comes across as optimistic. Promote this behavior by actively looking for opportunities during the change, continuously adapting to your circumstances.

By failing to embrace change and gaining control of your reactions, you will quickly become overwhelmed and emotional.

Embrace and be adaptive to change in your life, as it will create pathways for new opportunities you never thought possible.
